General Experience

Gintel has extensive experience in development, deployment and support of real-time and high-availability telecom systems of industrial quality. Since 1993, the Gintel team has supplied a large number of telecom-grade applications and service platforms using a range of different protocols and APIs, both standard protocols like INAP CS1, OSA/Parlay, MAP, SIP, SMPP and a variety of proprietary protocols (Ericsson CS1+, Cisco VCO, etc.).

The protocols cover 3 categories:

  • IN protocols
  • OSA/Parlay protocols
  • SIP/IMS protocols

IN protocols defined the communication environment for the implementation of VAS from the early 1990’s, and a majority of the world’s VAS are implemented on these protocols. An in-depth understanding of how these protocols work is the foundation for both the design and implementation of the newer protocols, and for the utilization of these protocols in service applications. IN protocols define the functionality to be reimplemented by the newer generation of protocols. Gintel has worked with

  • standard IN protocols like INAP CS1, ISUP …..
  • proprietary extensions like Ericsson CS1+

Gintel has experience in building OSA/Parlay applications since Parlay version 1.2. The Gintel team, while being a part of Telenor R&D, implemented one of the first systems in the world (December 1999) to demonstrate call handling over Parlay in a live telecom environment. From joint projects with Telenor R&D we have experience in building applications over OSA/Parlay gateways from several different vendors.

Gintel has followed the maturing of the SIP protocols from its early beginning all through its development into becoming an essential part of the IMS architecture. Currently Gintel utilizes the IMS/SIP protocols to implement our VAS applications over an all-IP network.

Gintel have been a prime supplier of advanced services and service platforms for Telenor, developing and deploying services both for the corporate, SME and private / mass market. Example of commercially available services developed Gintel by are televoting, online payment, fraud detection, fix-mobile conversion, call centre solutions, pre-paid charging, etc. In these projects, Gintel has been in charge of analysis, design, development, testing, and partly service deployment.
